The Vineyard at Borgo Medioevale Announces New Product Line

PRESS RELEASE
SWANSEA, SOUTH CAROLINA July 6, 2012 -- The Vineyard at Borgo Medioevale is pleased to announce the addition of new items to their existing line of Muscadine grape products.

In addition to their Blush cider, The Vineyard is now producing a White cider and a Red cider. All ciders are made from Muscadine grapes, a fruit native to South Carolina. The Vineyard at Borgo Medioevale specializes in growing only the Carlos and Noble varieties, which gives their ciders a distinctly sweet and hearty flavor. The new products are a direct result of an explosive harvest this past year. The Blush is a mixture of both the Carlos and Noble Muscadine grapes, while the White cider has the distinct taste of pure White Carlos Muscadine grapes and the Red has the deep lushness of pure Red Noble Muscadine grapes.

“We’re having the time of our lives working with delicious, nutritious Muscadine grapes – America’s First GrapeTM!” says Dr. Lucinda Cassamassino DiFalco, Founder, CEO and President of L C Development, LLC, the company that runs The Vineyard at Borgo Medioevale. “Our grape harvest essentially doubled this past year, so it allowed us to expand our line and give our customers new ciders to enjoy. There’s been a lot of feedback asking for White and Red ciders, and we’ve been fortunate enough to be able to respond to that demand in a positive way.”

The Muscadine grape is a hearty fruit found throughout the Southern United States. The Vineyard at Borgo Medioevale focuses on the Carlos and Noble varieties, specifically, because both varietals are self-fertilizing, which makes them less delicate and easier to produce. The Carlos varietal is known for its distinctive bronze-colored skin, while the Noble has a deep purple to blackish exterior. The skin of the grapes is known to be high in polyphenols. Studies currently show that the polyphenols found in the skin of Muscadine grapes may have antibacterial and anti-carcinogenic qualities, leading to a variety of health benefits. The Vineyard at Borgo Medioevale produces its ciders using the grapes’ skins, to maximize the potential for positive health effects.

The Vineyard at Borgo Medioevale was first planted in 2007. The Vineyard is currently in the process of building a warehouse and winery, tentatively scheduled to open in late Fall of 2012. At The Vineyard at Borgo Medioevale, additional Muscadine vineyard acreage is scheduled to be planted and maintained in an eco-friendly way, to enhance local agriculture and create jobs while holding true to the company’s mission of fostering the harmonious co-existence of Man, Industry and Nature.
